Obituary for Arnold Dale Berg
We were fortunate to have one of life’s most gracious, kind and loving human beings as a husband and father. Wherever Arn was, music and laughter were soon to follow. The legacy of this amazing man started when Arnold Dale Berg was born May 20, 1932 at the family ranch to Henry and Ruth (Miller) Berg. He had a happy childhood which he shared with his parents, brothers, John, Dick, Lloyd, Ben, Harry and Glenn and sister, Tookie. Their home was filled with daily activities of ranching, card playing, and lots of love and laughter.

Arnold married Diane on June 11, 1955. Arn was so proud to bring his beautiful bride to the Shawmut ranch where their new life together began. For 67 years they shared everything life has to offer and were a great team. While Arn was serving his country in the Army at Fort Riley, Kansas, they welcomed their first two daughters, Judy and Marcia. They returned to the family ranch in Shawmut where every spring they enjoyed watching new life begin with baby lambs. New life also included another daughter, Lori. They then moved to Big Timber where Mark and Kari became cherished additions to the family. Family time always included playing cards and games, singing, camping and a lot of storytelling.

Music was a passion and embraced his whole being including playing piano, guitar, accordion, banjo, mandolin and singing. His love of music transcends through all generations. Many times he would start the day by singing “Oh What a Beautiful Morning.” Arn had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Content with what he was given in life, Arn was a stranger to no one and a friend to all. His kindness will be remembered by many.

Arn’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. He passed away on July 21, 2022 at the age of 90 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. His loved ones include his wife, Diane, children Judy (Stu) Cvrk, Marcia (George) Eaton, Lori (Pete) Larson, Mark (Becky) Berg, Kari (Jerry) Locati, brothers Lloyd (Linda) and Glenn (Holly) Berg and sister, Tookie Gee,13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Arn's life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 30 at the Big Timber Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hearts and Hands Hospice, PO Box 1337, Big Timber, MT 59011
