Obituary for Clara Belle Rembold

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, beloved Sunday School teacher, and friend Clara Belle (Clark) Rembold. She was 90 years old. Clara passed December 21st, 2022, at the Pioneer Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

Clara was born March 1st, 1932, in Kempton, Maryland to Elmer Clark and Twila (Miller) Clark. She was the eldest of 10 children. Clara grew up in the Appalachian coal mining area of Maryland and West Virginia near Fairfax Stone state park which marks the headwaters of the Potomac River.

Clara married Bernard Rembold on September 10, 1949.They were blessed with four children Diana Rembold Evans of Horse Shoe Run, West Virginia, Roger Rembold of Bozeman, Montana, Randy Rembold of Big Timber, Montana, Jody Rembold Habra of El Dorado Hills, California. The family lived in Cleveland Ohio and West Virginia, until Bernard, Clara, and their three younger children moved to Montana in 1969.

While residing in Big Timber, Bernard and Clara were members of the Timber Trippers and enjoyed square dancing at the Moose Lodge for many years. They were also active in snowmobiling, taking many trips up the Boulder and to Yellowstone Park. Clara was active as a member in the local bowling league at the City Club and also in Harlowton. She was a longstanding member of the Big Timber Church of God, and a faithful Sunday school teacher to the preschool class. She was known as “gramma” to many of the children.

Bernard and Clara moved to Harlowton in 1994 after he retired. While in Harlowton, Bernard and Clara cooked for the local Kiwanis Club and were involved in the Faith Chapel church as well as the local senior center. They had been married for 54 years when Bernard passed away in 2003. Clara remained in Harlowton until returning to Big Timber in 2007.

Clara cooked at the Hospitality House in the 1980s and 90’s. When she returned to Big Timber,

she enjoyed being a member of the Hospitality House and a participant in the kitchen band. Clara enjoyed cookies and coffee in the morning with all the local ladies. She was also a longtime volunteer at the community thrift store and renowned for being seen walking throughout Big Timber, continuing her daily walks until 2020.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and baking cookies with them. Clara was always so kind, loved serving others, and she put others first. Clara was an incredible role model to our family. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by 2 brothers Robert Clark, James Clark, and one sister Josephine Clark Tenney, as well as four children, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

We are so grateful to all of her wonderful friends, neighbors, and her congregation that looked out for her over the years. She has been cremated, and Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday April 7, 2023, at the Big Timber Church of God. A second Celebration for her family and friends in West Virginia with interment will take place at Texas Church in Horse Shoe Run West Virginia on June 17, 2023.
