Obituary for Darlene Diane Gosser
Darlene Diane Gosser (Ortiz) went to be with the Lord in the early hours of March 20, 2022, at Billings Clinic. Darlene was born to David and Ercinia Ortiz on January 4, 1957, in Espanola, New Mexico ¬¬– growing up in Chimayo. She was 1 of 5 daughters and twin to her sister, Marlene. On December 12, 1980, our Mom and Dad - Thomas R. Gosser, got married while our Dad served in the United States Air Force, which took them to Alaska for the first time. During their 41+ years of marriage they created a beautiful family, she was extremely proud of their children Thomas, James, Anthony and Bethany. Along the way they lived in New Mexico, Alaska, Washington, Wyoming and finally Big Timber, Montana.

She made many connections during her journey in this physical life and loved chatting with everyone. Our Mom was known as a kind and personable soul to all she met. She accepted everyone for who they were and genuinely cared for those in her life. Other loves included gardening, crocheting and embroidering. During the spring and summer months, she could be found tending to her vegetable garden and flowers – she was always proud of her growing plants! When inside, she was usually in her favorite chair embroidering or crocheting a gift for someone she knew.

Our Mother was a true caretaker, she was a homemaker, but also worked as a teacher (Substitute and Sunday School), assisted living, childcare, customer service and was always involved in each Church she attended in each state she lived in. She truly loved the Lord and was the definition of the quote ‘no one prays for you like your Mother’ this also held true for everyone, from strangers, friends and loved ones alike – when she said she was going to pray for you, she meant it.
One of the biggest lights in our Mom’s life was her Grand Babies! She was so happy to move from Alaska to Montana and be closer to all her children and grandchildren. She not only just loved her home in Big Timber but the ability to see her children and grandchildren frequently. Our Mom would help any of us to come watch our children for months at a time without any want for anything other than to spend time with her grandchildren. She could be found playing, coloring, telling stories, singing and just enjoying each moment she had with them – when not with them she never missed a week without calling to see how they were and wanting to chat with them all. She truly had the patience of a saint and never become impatient with any of her grandbabies. She was one of the best Grandma/Nana’s around and will be greatly missed.

Our Mom is preceded in death by her parents, sisters – Amy, Christina, Marlene and nephew, Michael Course. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas R. Gosser, children – Thomas R. Gosser Jr. of Casper, WY., James D. Gosser and wife Jacqueline of Fort Collins, CO., Anthony E. Gosser of Fort Collins, CO., and Bethany A.M. Davenport and husband Matthew of Travis AFB, CA. Grandchildren: Ender, Silas, Emory and Richard Gosser. Summer, Everly, Aurora and Ansel Davenport. Sister Sally Eres (Luis) of Albuquerque, NM. Nephew Gerald Ortiz (adopted brother) of Chimayo, NM and multiple nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be April 1, 2022 at Stenberg Funeral Home in Big Timber, Montana at 1 PM, viewing (10-1 pm) and graveside to follow immediately after service at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be sons; Thomas, James, Anthony and Matthew.
