Obituary for Daveen Lou Cosgriff
Daveen Lou Lawellin Cosgriff, 69, of Big Timber, MT, lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on May 18th, 2019. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Daveen was born in Livingston, MT on November 9th, 1949 to Dave and Alyce Lawellin. Alyce later married Charles Alkire who raised Daveen from a young age. She attended school in Livingston and Springdale in her younger years, and graduated from Sweet Grass High School in 1968. She married George Cosgriff in 1980. She had three children whom she loved very much and was extremely proud of. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved to plan family dinners. Daveen had many different jobs over the years, including dietary manager and bookkeeper; however, her greatest accomplishment was her preschool and daycare. Her daycare kids knew her as Grandma Daveen.
She is preceded in death by her biological father, Dave Lawellin; her mother, Alyce Alkire; and her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Robert Johnson.
Daveen is survived by her father, Charles Alkire; husband, George Cosgriff; children, Danette (Jim Robertson) Schuman, Chuck (Kandi) Schuman, and Cara (Tyler) Mann; sisters, Lonnie (Wayne) Jarrett, Sherry Lawellin, and Lisa Alkire; grandchildren, Kally (Fletcher) McIntire, Gavin Schuman, Greeley Schuman, and Evie Mann; great-grandchildren, Jason and Jaxon McIntire; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for all of their care and support.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 2pm Thursday May 23, 2019 at the Big Timber Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Daveen’s name may be made to the Crazy Mountain Museum, PO Box 83, Big Timber, MT 59011 or to a charity of one’s choice.
