Obituary for Denise Marie Holman Mullens
Denise Marie Holman Mullens was born on October 19, 1966 in Big Timber, MT to Dennis and Donna Faw Holman. Denise went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2021 in Billings, MT in her home surrounded by her loving husband and parents. She was raised in Melville, MT on a ranch set along the base of the Crazy Mountains. She attended a two room school in Melville, MT and later graduated from SGHS in Big Timber, MT in 1985 and would go on to attend Kinman Business University. Denise would meet and marry the love of her life Leland Dwayne Mullens Jr. on July 1, 1986 in Spokane, WA. The couple would later move three more times before her husband would retire from the Air Force Academy. Denise was a lifelong member of Big Timber Evangelical Church and served on the worship team playing piano alongside her husband on the drums and children. Denise and Lee played at Chapel Hills Baptist in Colorado Springs, CO alongside singer Nichole Nordeman. She took an immense amount of pride in her yard and could be often found gardening and tending to her flowerbeds. She had so much pride in winning Yard of the Month at the Air Force Academy and Sacramento on multiple occasions. Denise and Leland were often hosting cadet parties and always entertaining those around them. She enjoyed hosting holidays and making sure the family would be together, fed and entertained year after year. Denise was selfless in every sense and would drop anything to be there for others putting others first before herself. She could be seen at every sporting event cheering her children on throughout their lives. She was a servant to the Lord and believed in humbly serving those around her whether they were family, friends or anyone in need. She looked forward to summertime garage sales and the cows coming back home for calving season. Denise loved spending time with her eight grandchildren who all lived in the Billings area and would oftentimes spend her weekends playing with her grandbabies.
Denise is survived by her husband Leland Dwayne Mullens Jr., her three children Leland Dwayne Mullens III (Kayla), Danielle Renee Mullens Doornek (Jordan) and DeOnna Elizabeth Mullens Salazar (Steven). She is survived by her parents Dennis and Donna Holman and her siblings David Holman (Sandy) and Debbie Holman Hathaway (Marc). She is survived by her grandchildren Mica, Cedar, Jasper, Brooklyn, Madison, Greyson, Haylee and Ryleigh. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Ben and Blanche Holman, Lester (Shorty), Alberta Faw and her sister Carol Rae Holman.
