Obituary for Donna Otten
On Monday December 4th, 2017 heaven gained another angel, a wife, mom, nana, sister, aunt, and a friend to all who met her. My mom was born in Renton, Washington on December 15, 1955. Her parents Bill and Marilyn Lyman along with my mom brothers and sisters made their way to Montana. Years later my beautiful mother made it to White Sulphur Springs Montana, where she bartended at the Mint Bar. Aside from meeting lots of lifelong friends she also met a guy who fell off a barstool, threw a guy thru a window and stole her heart. I get the privilege of calling that guy my dad.
On December 8th 1979 my parents said “I do” and the story of the Otten family began. On that day my mom not only married the love her life she was also blessed with two boys. She welcomed my brothers Shawn and Kris with open arms and loved them as if they were her own. With the help of some friends and more family my parents moved a blue trailer to the flats in Harlowton, Montana which became their forever home. She worked at Wheatland Memorial nursing home, later retiring from Stockman’s bar to become a stay at home mom.
On August 31st, 1984 she gave birth to my brother Mike, to say he was her pride and joy is a huge understatement. My mom never missed a football game of Mike’s and we all know cause would sit in the corner and yell for the whole town to hear. During those years she became a mom to all, her house was open to all kids. All the time.
December 25th, 1986 I was born. She taught me how to cook, how to do laundry, and farther beyond that she taught me how to be an amazing mom. Although I hate to break it to everyone she did not teach me how to make her famous potato salad, I would love to try but I'm sure it would never compare.
My mom has joined her parents Bill and Marilyn Lyman, along with her in-laws Cliff and Betty Otten.
Leaving plenty of memories with her husband Paul and their dog Tip, Shawn Otten, Kris (Annie) Otten, Mike Otten, Jesi (Brian) Mckeever. Her grandbabies Ashlynn Mckeever, Aden Mckeever, Alizabeth McKeever, Grace Otten, and Faith Otten. Her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, Many many friends, adopted kids and her beloved Seattle Seahawks.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life and a potluck dinner will be held 5:30pm Friday December 15 at the Moose Lodge. Condolences for the family may be made at www.stenbergfuneralhome.com
