Obituary for Dorothy Burmeister
Dorothy Jean McComb Burmeister, 80, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Pioneer Medical Center where she resided since October 2014. Dorothy was born on May 19, 1934 to Harry and Suzie Braughton McComb in Big Timber. Dorothy and her twin sister, Doris, were so small that they were placed in shoeboxes and kept warm on the oven door. Dorothy attended Big Timber Grade School and Sweet Grass County High School. On April 4, 1953, she married Peter Burmeister in Burlingame, California where Pete was stationed with the Marines. They had three children, Gary, Dan and Kathy. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty Howard, and her daughter, Kathy. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Gail) Burmeister and Dan(Glenna) Burmeister, sisters; Bea Gorr of Bozeman and Doris (Bill) Fickbohm of Centerville, SD, six grandchildren, Kris (Genevieve) Burmeister, Adrianne (Josh) Stensaas, Loren (Kelsey) Burmeister, Mara Burmeister, Olivia and Jacob Burmeister, and seven great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Hospitality House Senior Center. Dorothy had a great sense of humor and loved to have fun - playing cards and games, attending sporting and school events of her children and grandchildren or just visiting and reminiscing. Dorothy was very happy and well cared for at the PMC. She was much loved by her family and friends and will be missed.
