Obituary for Gerald Odien Rue

Gerald Odien Rue, beloved son, brother, father and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, in Bozeman, MT at the age of 70 with Sally by his side. He was born July 10, 1953 in Worland, Wyoming - the son of Harold and Jane Rue.

Jerry grew up in Big Timber, Montana as the oldest of six children. Jerry attended schools there and graduated from Sweet Grass County High School, Class of 1971. Following graduation, he served with the Air Force for four years. Throughout his life, he lived in California, Alaska, New Jersey and finally back home in Montana with his partner, Sally Robinson. He worked in the auto industry for most of his life starting as a mechanic then moved to management positions in Service, Sales and Finance.

He was known for his quick wit and his charismatic personality brightened every room he entered whether he was telling a funny story, selling you a car, or talking about his beloved Duke basketball program. He loved traveling to new places with Sally, spending time with his family and furry friends (Buddy and Earl), golfing, working on model trains, and watching sports.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Harold Rue. He leaves behind his partner, Sally Robinson; mother, Jane Rue; daughter, Stephanie Rue and granddaughters Savanna and Payton Kline; and five siblings, Ronnie Rue (Sue), Theresa Fjare (Wayne), PJ Eubank, Pat Rue (Stacia) and Kathy Pacheco (Ralph); numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.
