Ivan passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 12th, 2024. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, he spent his early years in Kansas. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a machinist. While in Kansas, he married and had two sons, Dan and Don Bosley who still live in Kansas. He later divorced.
The west always intrigued Ivan. He made several hunting trips to Montana and Wyoming. On one of these trips, he met his future wife. He moved to Montana in 1978, worked for Burlington Northern as a machinist and on August 8, 1981, married Cathy Frelich. With the railroad leaving Livingston he wanted to stay in their hometown and had to start a new career. He always had a natural talent for cutting his friends hair. If you couldn’t find him, he was usually in the garage cutting someone’s hair. He attended Mr. Mack’s Beauty School in Bozeman where he not only enhanced his skills cutting hair but also learned to give perms and color hair. We always joked he turned in his welding rods for perm rods. He opened the Upper Cut Salon in the “little log cabin” in front of the Yellowstone Gateway Mall. When John Tecca moved the cabin Ivan relocated to the inside of the mall where he remained until ill health forced him to retire in 2022. When you made an appointment with Ivan it was uncertain if you wanted a great service or the conversation that came along with it.
Ivan had been an active bowler in the Men’s City League for several years. He was a director and past President of the Livingston Roundup Association. He had volunteered as a member for over 40 years. He enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas until his health wouldn’t allow him to do so.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Cathy Frelich Bosley of Livingston, his two daughters, Christina (Travis) Hoeme of Livingston and Shannon (Zachariah) Campbell and their children Hadley and Parker of Helena, his sons Dan Bosley and Don Bosley and families in Kansas, and his brother Richard (Donna) Bosley of Kansas, his brother in law John Frelich of Livingston and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Livingston Christian Center on August 10th, 2024, at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow at the American Legion in Livingston. A private family burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery.
If you wish to donate, please consider Livingston Healthcare Hospice or Stafford Animal Shelter in his memory.
