Obituary for JUDITH RUBY MACK BRETZEL
Judith Ruby Bretzel lost a long battle on September 21, 2014, after a final bout with cancer. She is now with the love of her life and rejoicing with her Master and Savior. Judy was born to Harry and Thressa (Nevin) Mack on July 9, 1929, in Big Timber, Montana. Judy's mother took in 12 year old cousin, Melvin Lincoln, when his mother died of lock jaw and he was raised with Judy and her two brothers in Big Timber. Judy married Lawrence Chapel on June 29, 1946, and they moved to Wilsall, Montana, where Larry worked and Judy was able to finish high school. There were two daughters born to this union; Linda and Joyce. Larry and Judy later divorced. Judy was known for her honesty and strong work ethic and could do anything she put her mind to. Judy held many different jobs including working in a saw mill, assistant to the County Attorney in Livingston, as a case manager for the welfare office, and at the elevator in Big Timber. She met the love of her life William "Jim" Bretzel while working at the elevator. Their first date was to the Big Timber Rodeo and three weeks later they were married, July 25, 1969. Jim became step-father to Judy's two daughters and grandfather to her grandchildren. Judy was especially pleased when Jim came to know the Lord as she had a high concept of God that she used in her daily life. Jim lost his own battle with cancer in 2002. Judy had a quick wit and a strong mind as everyone who played against her in pinnacle and cribbage would be quick to attest. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Erwin "Sonny" Mack and Cody Mack, and husband William "Jim" Bretzel. Judy is survived by her daughters Linda McBride of Helena, and Joyce Randles of Billings; grandchildren Eric Saltzman of Musselshell, Kevin McBride of Conroe, Texas, Kim (David) Cook of Helena, and L.J. Kirby of Billings; great-grandchildren Hunter and Sophia Saltzman, Devin Hoffie, Christopher, Natasha, and Taylor McBride, Sarah Wetzler, and Emily Francois; great, great-grandchildren Aubri McBride and Tiber Effertz; foster brother/cousin Melvin Lincoln of Stockton, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
