Jean Minette-Johnson (nee Neva Jean Becken) died at her Big Timber home with family by her side on May 28, 2024. Jean was born in Lewistown, MT on January 3, 1935 to Hubert Becken and Joyce Lahd. She graduated Sweet Grass County High School in 1952 and then studied Nursing at Montana State University Bozeman. She met Thomas N. Minette in Butte where he was attending Montana School of Mines and she was doing a nursing practical at St James Hospital.
They married in December 1955 in Big Timber, Montana. The couple lived many places over their marriage: Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colombia South America, Wyoming, California and eventually the Philippines. They had four children Tim, Carl, Lori and Tom B. After raising their children, they divorced and Jean went back to a career of nursing. Later she met and married Larry Johnson of Tucson, AZ. They became entrepreneurs owning a bridge studio and a small trucking company. They lived many years in Sedona and Tucson, AZ before moving back to Big Timber in 2003.
Jean is survived by her son Tim Minette, daughter Lori Minette (Steve Harvey), son Tom B. Minette (Gregory Bytom) and two granddaughters Lena Racine (Neil Racine) and Laura Minette. Jean was preceded in death by infant son (Carl), her parents, ex-husband Thomas N. Minette and husband Larry Johnson.
Graveside services will be held 11am Saturday August 31 at Mountain View Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1pm at the Big Timber Lutheran Church.
