Obituary for Kenneth Dale Rostad
Kenneth Dale Rostad was born on April 22, 1963, the 6th child to Clarence and Ruth (Hauge) Rostad. He grew up on the family’s ranch on the Old Boulder Road. He attended schools in Big Timber, graduating in 1981, the last class to graduate at the old Sweet Grass High School. He played drums in the SGHS band inspiring at least 4 nephews and a great niece to do the same. While in high school he got the nickname Rogg. He got his undergraduate degree at MSU in Bozeman and his Master's degree at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. While in college had his own band “Raw Kahn” and did some touring around Montana and neighboring states. He was a member of Spokane's own "Blue Steele". He also performed with the Spokane Opera, the Tacoma Brass Band, Federal Way Symphony, and the Tacoma Summer Fun Band.

On June 20, 1998 he married his wife Fredrica "Rica" Garrison. They spent their married life in Federal Way, Fife, and Puyallup, WA. They enjoyed traveling on their off time. He was a very faithful fan of the Seattle Seahawks, enjoyed gardening, word and jigsaw puzzles, catching a movie with his friend Jim, and searching for a great cup of coffee. He taught music at schools in Coeur d'Alene, ID, Spokane, and Tacoma WA including the historic Stadium High School featured in the movie, "10 Things I Hate About You." This past year he taught in Billings, MT because Washington state was doing online schooling due to Covid restrictions. He died suddenly on August 9 in Billings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Benjamin Andersen, and his brother-in-law, John Vaia. He is survived by his wife, Rica, of Puyallup, WA, his siblings, George (Terri) Rostad, Shirley (Joe) Bowden, Emily (Jerry) Graves, Dan Rostad, all of Big Timber, & Diane Vaia, of Grass Range. Also, he is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, & great nephews. He loved them all so much.
