Obituary for Lawrence Dean Jones
Lawrence Dean Jones, 86, of Big Timber, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2023.
He was born on August 2, 1936 to Sam and Ruth Jones of Naches, Washington. He had one older brother, Stanley.
Lawrence grew up enjoying the outdoors, sports and cars. He was a lettered athlete in football, basketball and track. After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic.
After his enlistment, he returned home to Washington in search of employment, eventually taking him to Montana where he met Della. In 1967 they were married, and raised their family of two sons, Rance and Jeff in the Flint Creek Valley, living in Hall.
After both sons were grown, they followed work back to Washington, only to return to Montana in 1999, moving to Big Timber where he was employed by a security contractor for Stillwater Mining until his retirement.
Lawrence had been dealing with different kinds of cancer throughout the years, and after becoming extremely sick very quickly, The Lord called him home.
Lawrence is survived by his sons; Jeff (wife Cara of Big Timber, grandsons; Garrett (wife Emilee, son Lincoln) of La Grande, OR and Colton (fiancé Hailey) of Joliet) and Rance of Fairbanks, AK (grandson James (wife Laura, daughter Willow, sons Kobe and Isaac) of Huron, SD.

Graveside services will be held 1pm Thursday August 31, 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber.
