Obituary for Lovie Ann Hanson
Lovie Ann (Koch) Hanson took her first breath on April 21, 1942 in Bozeman MT at her Grandma and Grandpa Koch’s house at 318 South Church Street and took her last breath on July 25, 2022 in Livingston MT at Livingston HealthCare.
Lovie was born to Garneil (Bill) McKean Koch and Gwendolyn (Egeland) Koch. Her family settled in Livingston where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Park County High School in May of 1960.
On July 9, 1960, she married her sweetheart, Kenneth Sigvald Hanson at American Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. They enjoyed 50 years together until his death in 2010.
Lovie was a stay at home mom until the early 70’s when she took a class and became a “Ward Clerk” at Livingston Memorial Hospital. She also worked for a time at the Clerk and Recorders Office under Emma Bowers. She went back to LMH and retired in 2007 due to health issues. She always said she didn’t miss the work but it was the people she worked with that she missed the most.
Ken and Lovie also owned and operated the ambulance service for just over 3 years. They both became EMT’s and enjoyed their time working with the local EMS. Lovie also helped with training and testing with the State of Montana.
Lovie had lived in the same house for 62 years. A house on Merrill Lane that was designed and built by Kenny. She always said that he never “finished” the house as there was always something that he was fixing or re-doing.
Lovie is survived by her twin sons, Alan (Debbie) Hanson of Syracuse, KS. David Hanson of Billings. Daughter, Lorene (Russ) Bailey of Clyde Park. Four grandchildren, Kevin Hanson and Elizabeth Hanson of Pocatello ID, KayDee (Charlie) Marsik of Great Falls and Karlene Bailey of Lewistown. Great Grandson, Colter Conway Marsik of Great Falls. Brother, Bill (Christina) Koch of Virginia City. Sister-in-law, Sharon Koch of Missoula. Nephews, Errol Koch and fiancé Nicki Boye of Helena, Neil Koch and Robert Koch of Oregon. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families, Rob Bennett, Signe Bennett, Kathy Sitton, Larry Amann all of California. Jimmy Amann of Germany and Gordy Amann of Australia as well as numerous other relatives. She is also survived by her very special friend and sister by heart, Deb Irish.
Lovie is predeceased by her parents Bill and Gwen Koch, husband Kenny, brother David Koch, and very special Aunties, Lois Lee, Dixie O’Connor and Deanna Egeland and many other relatives.
Memorials can be made to the American Lutheran Church, PO Box 1259, Livingston, MT or the Stafford Animal Shelter, 3 Business Park Rd, Livingston MT. Lovie adopted a rescue dog from California from Stafford, one month after Kenny died. Poncho was her faithful companion from the moment she brought him home until March of 2022 when he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Poncho knew that she needed him and he needed her.
The family would like to thank Deb Irish, George Brocklehurst, Leroy & Kathy Amunrud, Leta O’Connor and the Guy Olson Family for your love and support over the years. Special Thank You to Dr. Scofield for all of your years of taking care of our mother.
Condolences may be sent to PO Box 554, Livingston, MT.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Stenberg Funeral Home of Big Timber has been entrusted with arrangements.
