Obituary for Mildred Evelyn Martinz
Mildred Evelyn Martinz, 92, went to her heavenly home on Friday September 25, 2015 at the Pioneer Medical Center. Mildred was born October 28, 1922, the oldest of 7 children born to Albert and Mildred Wagner. She attended school in Big Timber, graduating in 1940. She met Walt Martinz and they were married on April 17, 1943. She worked as a secretary for the Montana Department of Defense in Big Timber, was a cannery worker in Monterey, CA while Walt was stationed there in the U.S. Army. She worked in the Golden Rule Clothing Store and was a secretary for the Big Timber Grade School early in their married life. Mildred then stayed home until most of the children were out of school. She cleaned rooms at Frye's Motel for several years and worked the night shift at the Pioneer Medical Center for 19 years, retiring in 1996. She loved music, including that which she and Walt played. She could play the piano and organ which she played at church, and she also played the accordion. She had been an avid reader and had a fondness of poetry and knew it well. She had been a member of the local Gem and Mineral Club with Walt. A special interest was the Special Olympics, which granddaughter Brenda participates. She enjoyed and loved her children and grandchildren. A woman of faith, Mom was a strong example of God's love. Her caring and loving personality was felt by all, often with no words spoken, just her warm smile and touch. It has been said that "she made everyone feel like they were her favorite." Mom was of good humor and good wisdom, often coming in with her short one-liners. Mildred was preceded in death by her twin boys at birth, daughter Diane, son John and husband Walt. She is survived by her brother David Wagner and sister Shirley Bradfield both of Big Timber, her children; David, Mary Ann (Jim) Parrent, Robert of Big Timber, Judy (Greg) Hampson of Sheridan, WY, James and Tammy of Afton, WY, Charlie (Sara) of Great Bend, KS, Mike (Janet) of Big Timber, Duane (Nancy) of Custer, SD, 19 grandchildren; Waide, Brenda, Scottie, Tania, Bill, Jackie, Ben, Joe, Andrea, Jason, Austin, Sterling, Hanna, Sage, Cheyenne, ShaeLee, Craig, Angie, Cody and Blake, 17 great-grandchildren with another due in February. Several nieces and nephews and special neighbors and friends, Jim and Cheryl Bratvold. Mom it comes with love and pride to thank you for all you've done to make our family strong. The things you've taught will not be forgotten, for God's been working through you all along. She's gone now to her next life, which she would often tease about. It is with great love and respect that we say good-bye. Love you Mom, see you tomorrow!
