Obituary for Nyla Jeanne Opland Berg
Our beautiful mother passed away peacefully on April 13, 2018 at the age of 76. Nyla grew up on a ranch near Gibson, Montana, usually riding her beloved horse Bonnie to her rural school called Knob Hill. She graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1959 and then attended Billings Business College. She thrived as a working girl in Billings. After marrying Ben Berg in 1961, they decided to make their lifelong home and raise their family in the amazing community that is Big Timber, Montana with many wonderful friends and extended family. If you look in the dictionary for supportive, caring devoted wife and mother, you'd see Nyla's picture. She was an asset to all volunteering in school, the Lutheran church, the Jaycees and the Sweet Grass Museum. Nyla also enjoyed working alongside her husband at Dime and then Key Insurance agencies.
Nyla enjoyed weekly lunch bunch with friends, various bridge groups, annual trips to Jackpot and was a wonderful cook.
Nyla is survived by her three children, Ross of Big Timber, Jess (Lynda) of Billings, and Kristi (Dan) Fischer of Lakeside. She delighted in her four grandchildren Griffin and Keaton Fischer and Ashton and Kenadie Berg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister June Kalberg and her husband Ben.
She was so loved and will be greatly missed. Her kindness and welcoming home was appreciated by all who knew her.
Graveside services and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Memorials in Nyla’s name may be made to Hearts and Hands Hospice in Big Timber or the Stafford Animal Shelter in Livingston.
