Obituary for Robert W. 'Bobby' Lindner
Robert W. (Bobby) Lindner, 93 of Big Timber passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Pioneer Medical Center. Bobby was born October 24, 1921. He and his dad homesteaded in the Gibson country on land that they later called "Sunny Slope". He worked side by side with his dad from a very young age. They raised Hereford cattle, horses, milk cows and chickens. Bobby attended school at Knob Hill which was almost in his backyard. He met Kathleen Viets while at school and found that she only lived a mile away. They later married on December 10, 1942 in Harlowton. Bobby and Katie made their home on the ranch where they raised their three daughters. After selling the ranch they enjoyed a hobby of raising thoroughbred race horses. They had several successful horses on the Billings and Great Falls tracks. Bobby enjoyed visiting, playing cards, fishing and traveling. Bobby lived in an era of neighbors helping neighbors, when the ranchers formed a crew to thrash wheat and brand calves for each other. For entertainment they attended community barn dances and card parties. Bobby is survived by his daughters, Connie Lindner and Holly (Glenn) Berg of Big Timber, Sherry (Tracy) Tucker of Springdale and grandson Cory Sell of Missoula. He was preceded in death by his wife Katie, parents and an infant sister.
