Shirley passed away peacefully at home January 3, 2023. She was born in Big Timber on April 19, 1945.
She grew up in the Gibson area in Eastern Sweet Grass County, and attended grade school at the one-room Knob Hill School House. She completed high school at the Mount Ellis Academy in Bozeman.
While visiting relatives in California, she met and married Robert ‘Andy’ Anderson. She and Andy had 3 children; Robert William of Montrose, CO, Kimberly Sue of Roseville, CA, and Shawna Esther of Hudson, WI.
Shirley spent most of her working career in the medical field, including time in the administrative division of the Loma Linda School of Medicine.
Her marriage to Andy ended in divorce and she later moved back to Big Timber to care for her elderly parents. During this time she met Bud Erfle and they were married on August 31, 1996.
Shirley worked at the Pioneer Medical Center until retiring. She enjoyed spending the winters in Prescott, AZ and enjoyed camping at the Black Sandy RV Park near Helena and she got back into using her knitting skills. She did beautiful work making dish rags, scrubbies, afghans, scarfs, and baby blankets.
She loved flowers and always decorated the yard with beautiful arrangements.
She was a caring person and tried to treat everyone fairly, she was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Graveside services are planned in the spring at Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber, the date and time will be announced at later date.
