Obituary for Loren A. Funk
Loren Aldrich Funk was born June 06, 1956 to Fred and Avis Chapel Funk. Loren spent most of his youth growing up at the family home in Pine Creek with sister Leeta and brothers Clyde and Kevin.

Loren was an adventurous youth and always had a keen interest in motorcycles. Begging his mother to let him finally buy one, fueled that interest for many years. Loren made a solo journey to California to visit relatives when he was only 16, on his motorcycle. He also spoke often of the solo trip he made to Alaska at 21 years old. Loren had many bikes over the years purchasing his last one the summer of 2016 a brand new 2014 Triumph Bonneville, he sure did enjoy that bike.

Loren started working at the ripe old age of 12 doing chores and such for the neighbors; and after quitting school at the age of 16 he started working full time and had many jobs; the trout ranch, Sturdy Built Trailers, Brand-S Timber, and the brick factory in Billings, he also spent many summers stacking hay with his cousin Jim Chapel. Loren eventually started working in the timber industry as a sawyer and did that for many years in Washington, Montana, and New Mexico. Loren bought a bucket truck and started his business, Skyline Tree Services, part time while managing the rental store for his brother Clyde in Big Timber. He eventually turned his part time tree business into a full time business.

Loren married Tess Gavne, December 1979, the couple had 3 sons, Josiah Loren, Lige Gordon, and Israel Frederick.

Loren was so very proud of his sons and the men that they have become, now both with families of their own, blessing him with 3 beautiful grand-daughters. Loren and his boys spent a lot of time doing boy stuff when they were growing up. He had many stories of their adventures out at Cottonwood reservoir. Loren was always a very good friend to the many friends that the boys hung with.

Loren met his wife Julie in December of 2009. They enjoyed many common interests and keeping each other on track. Loren had made his home in Big Timber since 2010.

Loren's battle with heart failure began the fall of 2012, he fought hard for the past number of years, trying to maintain a "normal life", he passed away March 25th 2017 at the University of Utah Hospital, in Salt Lake, with Julie and son Israel by his side. Nobody ever fought harder.

Loren leaves behind many loves, wife Julie of Big Timber, Son Josiah (Kristy) and their daughter Wynn, Son Israel (Alyssa) and their daughters Kessa and Teagen. Step-daughters Rian Schmidt and her daughter Maren; and Shelby Schmidt. Mother Avis Funk; sister Leeta Bondurant; brothers Clyde (Kathy) and Kevin (Courtney) Funk. Many, many special friends, nieces, and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his father Fred Funk, and son Lige Funk.
