Obituary for IRVIN R. SWANSON
Irvin R. Swanson passed away April 18th, 2014 unexpectedly at home in Belgrade, Montana. Irvin was born at home at Sanders, Montana April 23, 1936 to Fred & AnnaBelle Swanson. Irvin & his brother & sister grew up and went to grade school in Hysham, Montana. Irvin worked on relative's ranches in and around the Hysham & Miles City area. The Swanson family moved to Big Timber in 1951. After graduating SGHS in 1954, Irvin worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1956 Irvin joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific. (Dad was a Electrician's Mate, 2nd Class Petty Officer) His career job was working for Mountain Bell/US WEST for 33 years and retiring in 1994. In 1961 he married Susan and to this union they had 3 children, Ron, Chris & Don. Irvin enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting up the Main Boulder, Yellowstone & Deer Creeks throughout the years. Irvin was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Susan Swanson. Also, his parents, Fred & AnnaBelle Swanson, one sister, Leona Kirkpatrick, & one sister-in-law, Connie Swanson. Irvin is survived by his brother, Ray (Doris) Swanson, brother-in-law, Ralph D. Kirkpatrick, son, Ron (Barb) Swanson, daughter, Chris (Bob) Harper & son, Don (Shiela) Swanson. Also six grandsons, Benjamen Howard Harper, Clayton Irving Harper, Donald Roy Swanson, Jr., currently serving in the U.S Navy, Irving Tyrell Swanson, currently serving in the U.S. Navy, Calvin Lewis Swanson, ROTC U.S. Air Force, Wayne Adrian Swanson & one grand-daughter, Aubrianna Larraine Swanson & numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins & his long time friend, Audrey.
